What is Pitru Shanti / Pitru Dosh Puja?

Pitru Shanti Puja is a comprehensive Vedic ritual specifically designed to bring peace (shanti) to departed ancestors (pitru) and resolve the astrological condition known as Pitru Dosha. According to Vedic astrology, Pitru Dosha occurs when Saturn, Rahu, or other malefic planets afflict the 9th house or when the Sun is associated with Rahu in the birth chart.

The deeper spiritual cause, however, is when ancestors have not been given proper last rites, their rituals were incomplete, they died under difficult circumstances, or several generations of their shraddh ceremonies were missed.    Navgraha & Pitru Devata Invocation

   Tarpan (Water Offering)
